Life With Crazy Cats

Current Mood:Amused emoticon Amused

Having a pet is always interesting. We have two crazy cats and they are great for providing laughter, comfort and distraction when it is needed. They are litter mates, a brother and sister.

We’ve never had cats that will poof up for no apparent reason, even while purring. They still let us pick them up and everything. Our other cats would’ve clawed us if we did that. The boy will hisses at hubby out of frustration when they are playing….it is nutty.

You would think after five years they have finally settled into their habits and there is nothing new for them to do……but over the last few months that has been proven wrong….lol

During the very cold parts of winter, the boy finally learned that it is nice and warm crawling under the blankets to cuddle with mommie. His sister usually sleeps in the middle of our pillows, partial under the blanket while demanding that hubby has his hand on her…..or she’ll sit there and stare at him until her puts her into her usual spot. Or she’ll nose him. =)

Now that the boy has discovered cuddling under the blankets, he jumps up on the bed, on my side, near my head and starts to paw at the blankets, while staring at me. I’ve opened my eyes a few times to see his paw coming towards my nose to wake me up.

Twice in the last two weeks, I’ve been woken by him hissing! First time, he was pawing the blanket, but I obviously wasn’t waking up. So he hisses at me, I open my eyes, he is just looking at me…..he didn’t look upset or in pain…..as soon as I lifted the blankets he crawled right in.

The second time, I had my back to him when he jumped up……I’m like “really???” So now he is using a hiss to wake me up and let him in….rolling eyes.

A few mornings ago, I woke to a dream of something wet on my nose…..opened my eyes and the boy was very close to my face and staring at me. I’m not sure, but I think he nosed me, I really think he did……..ggeeezzz

The sister is a whole another ball of crazy. She is definitely a “daddy’s girl”. Her association with me, is when she wants something….like jumping on me and running me over to get to her spot on bed, if I have treats or the big thing, a brush. And not just a cat brush……my round prickly brush. She will run into my leg and trip me to get into the bathroom, jump on the toilet seat and look at me……if I don’t brush her, she starts rubbing against me.

She use to do it once in awhile, but the last few days she has gotten very demanding. Anytime she is not sleeping and even think I’m heading back there she races to the bathroom and just stares and stares and stares…..it is nutty. As soon as I grab the brush, that she is eyeing, she starts purring like crazy…so loud. Hubby calls her a “purr monster” She’ll grab the brush, while you hold it, get her claws into and rub her face against it.

There is nothing like having your life ruled by your cats. They really let you know that they are allowing you in their lives……lol

The Happenings & Random Pictures

It has been overcast with some wind today, but felt pretty nice….even if we didn’t take advantage of it….lol Planning on doing so tomorrow, need to break in my new hiking boots. =)

Coast Guard Cutter with the mountain background from earlier last week

I did get some small things done off of my to do list today, so that was something. We got a walking jacket for the cats. We wanted got it for Drew first because he is the skinniest of the two so we knew it would fit him. Then we would try it on Sakura, so we know what size to order hers (it’ll be purple). He seemed to do ok outside, nervous, but excited….keep purring and looking towards hubby to make sure that he was still there. Now her, she didn’t care for it all….but when she was a kitten she got out for about 22hrs and was never happy with the outside or people since. Use to growl at them out the window at our house.

She isn't liking it very well at all.=(

I spent Friday trying to contact a consignment store and the third party delivery service so we can empty our storage of our beloved bedroom set, dinning room set, living room table set. We really don’t want to give up our beloved king storage bed set, but why pay for it in storage if we aren’t going to use it for the next 10yrs? That is more then it is worth. =(

Beautiful Morning

Beautiful Morning last week

In process of phone calls, I looked down and saw that I was missing one of my accent diamonds on my wedding band part of my wedding/engagement ring set (I have them welded together). So not cool! =( I just had the prongs checked just over 2yrs ago, but this is not uncommon. Lucky I have my jewelry insured, so if there is any costs it is covered. And I have a jeweler that we totally trust. They are very reasonable and take very good care of us. We’ve gotten nearly all of my jewelry from them and they do my appraisals. The negative is that I had to ship my ring out to them since they are in Indiana. But it is worth it. They should get it Monday and hopefully, I’ll have it back by the end of next week. The other thing that drives me nuts is that I would have no ring on my finger, well, I solved that. Hubby gave me the blue topaz ring I wanted for our 10th, so I put that where my wedding/engagement ring goes. That is a HUGE help…..other wise I would lose it, not having something there.

Picked up a TV for the bedroom last week, now need to get another apple tv and figure out how we are going to set it up. Our rv is a 2002, so it was made with square box tvs in mind. But no matter what, it is one step closer where we can use our bed for cuddling late at night in front of the tv. We don’t like to spend that much time in bed, it actually hurts our bodies, but we miss the cuddling on our movie nights. So I’m looking forward to us getting it set up, once we figure it out. Friday night over the last few years have become our movie night after we watch Real Time with Bill Mahr.

And it seems to be the nights we have our long sex sessions. They have landed on other days/nights….but Friday seems to be our primary night for it. And this past Friday night was a hot one…..filling up the bedroom with the smell of sweaty sex…..grin I woke up wet this morning thinking of it. And before I showered tonight, hubby bent me over the bed and gave me one hell of a fucking….damn….I had a big glob of cum fall out of my pussy after that one….felt so damn good….grin

Out birding last week.=)

Out birding last week. =)

Nothing Much

We’ve really been being bums about getting our exercise the last 10days. =( But we have been going out birding. =) So that is cool

When we started being bums about getting our exercise, it really was due to the fact that we didn’t want to deal with the weather…it was so windy and wet…just didn’t feel like it.

We were suppose to have icky weather this week also…nope, it has been pretty damn nice. Didn’t get out this weekend due to basketball….yes, our lives are sometimes ran by what goes in the sports world. But Monday we went out for a walk…..only did 2:15miles in 2hrs, but that is what happens when you stop to find birds…lol

I stayed up late on work….had lots to do.

But then Tues, we totally hit the wall after lunch. That sucked. I hate that! I want to keep going, but my head had that tired cotton feeling. I just couldn’t shake it, even after a walk to the mail box….felt like a wussy, but laid down for 30. Felt so much better afterwards.

I got up just in time to start on dinner. I was making stuffed shells, in this case manicotti pasta since our store doesn’t have the shells, and that took 2hrs. But it was so damn good. =) I know that my stuff won’t be good enough for true italian food lovers, but we do love my stuffed shells and spaghetti. And it gets better as leftovers.

Today I did much better, I attacked some chores, got my work done and we even tested our kitties on the new walking jacket we got them. The male did ok on it, but his sister, not too well. But then she is the one that got out years ago for 22hrs and she hasn’t been the same again….more fearful outside. He was nervous, but seemed to enjoy it….just overwhelmed….purred a lot….grin

Tomorrow, we have some running we need to do…..going to be a busy day….that is for sure and it’ll be starting early.

Found that they suspended my katvixenlive at livejournal the other day….I’m like WTH?

They thought I was a bot spamming?!? I don’t get it.

I once set up a profile on an adult site and got the same thing….I’m no damn bot, totally really and I am true to myself. Just don’t get it. But they did get it back up.

We are currently working watching the True Detective series….kind of a mind fuck….but interesting.

A Month of Catching Up!

Current Mood:Beautiful Day emoticon Beautiful Day

I didn’t realize it has been almost a month since I last did a post. I know I’ve been working on the blog, but that has been all in the backend so I totally lost track of time. I’ve had to go find my last post just to get a sense of what is has happen since.

I should be doing work voice mails, but we just had a storm cloud move through…no rain, unfortunately…..and it has finally cooled down from 91.4 to 79 and the humidity has dropped nicely…in fact the breeze can give a chill. Most pleasant it has been mid day in a long while, so I’m sitting outside and enjoying it. ToRn is trying to get some good shots of hummingbirds and I’m typing this up….grin

We went to the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson in June. That was really cool and we highly recommend it. It is a combination museum, zoo and botanical garden. 85% of it is outside, so make sure you take water, wear a hat and lots of sunscreen. Saw the fattest black bear we have ever seen….no black bear in the wild gets that big….lol Saw the cutest gray fox and very cool ocelot.

It was much bigger then we thought and spent more time there then planned. But we still got to the Saguaro National Park, the west unit, just much later and much hotter….lol…..triple digits according to the Jeep. We went and saw the petroglyphs and got ourselves new sun hats at the visitor center. Now we look like typical birders…..LOL….but the hats are much lighter and covers the back of your neck and we got them in our favorite colors, I got my purple and ToRn got his green.

Found our first fresh kill on June 15th. It looked like it was a fawn. Since it was out in the open, we believe it was from a pack of coyotes, mountain lions would drag it back to the treeline and try to bury some of it to keep for later. We found it in the morning and I didn’t see any vultures the evening before when I did my walk that we think it was killed over night. The bones were still “juicy” but everything picked cleaned or on it’s way to clean. Now it looks like it has been there for several months it is so bleached and dried.

For awhile there we had 3 wild turkeys hanging around. If you ever had seen the movie Dark Crystal they reminded me of those 3 mystics, hunched all over…lol Last 2 weeks we’ve only been seeing 2 of them. Not sure if one of them became someone’s dinner.

Finally been seeing an occasional bobcat….and all without going out on a hike. ToRn saw one when I was out on a hike, just walking in front of the rig, about 30ft away. Of course, I had the camera as he looked for it before he remembered and grabbed the video camera.

Then a few nights ago, we saw a bobcat bouncing in the grass in the middle of the drive away. The little bugger was hunting. =)

Yesterday, we had a visitor say that they saw a small black bear. About a year old, more chestnut colored, acting like it should and running from people. Then a staffer saw it running across the road after we were just out looking for it this morning…LOL So ToRn went back out later, didn’t find it, but got more critter pictures. =)

Hummingbirds have really picked back up. They are going nuts right now. We have broad-bill, violet crown and black chinned on a regular basis. The rufus showed up a few days ago.

Finally got the iBird Pro app for our iPhone and iPad. They also have a new one out just for iPad only, called Waite’s Birds…free to download with 50 different birds, the cost of getting them all is normally $49.99 but we got it on sale for $9.99! I LOVE sales. What is really cool about it, is over a month ago we had some of the people from iBird Pro, they all have some of their bird pictures in there and the guy that does support was showing me the new one while it was in beta. Showing all the cool things it does. So I’ve been looking for it, I really wanted to get it while it was on sale….so I’m tickled by that….grin

We went to the small parade that this small town has for the 4th. Kind of reminds of our small one of town one in Oregon. But with a few difference….like here, you are encouraged to bring your water guns and balloons…lol It is the only day of the year you get to throw water balloons at the town marshal and the parade participants return the favor….grin With the heat and climate here I can full understand that, it was hot. And they “hung” the Grand Marshal…lol

We’ve had one actually thunderstorm and a few rumbles here and there. Boy, our kitties do NOT like them. They totally go into hiding, we feel so bad for them. They didn’t grow up with thunderstorms in our part of Oregon. I’m so hoping they start doing much better with them by the time we leave Arizona.

Wow, this turned out much longer then I expected and I probably missed something. Nothing unusual there….grin

Cats & Cattle

Current Mood:Beautiful Day emoticon Beautiful Day

We are totally enjoying ourselves here in AZ

I’ve been going on morning walks about 6:30am, because I really, really want to see a bobcat. I finally got my wish on the 16th. I saw an animal jumping away over the trail in front of me. It didn’t have a long hairy tail and sure didn’t move like a coyote, it moved like a cat! I was so psyched!! But after a few days I felt like I dreamt it because it moved so fast and I just got a glance at it, not a good long look. So I’ve been determined that I was going to see another one, so taking my early morning and sunset walks when critters are the most active.

On the 22nd I got to see two bobcats on my morning walk. I was looking across a clearing and I saw to “short” animals, at first I was thinking of javelina, but then they ran towards each other to greet and circle each other. They didn’t move like either javelina or coyote….it was a cat movement. I got to see two bobcats!!! Of course, I had no camera or binoculars…..lol After they greeted each other one started walking in one direction along the tree line and the other in the opposite way, more in my direction. The one in my direction stopped a few times, looked as if he was sunning himself and looked as if he was rolling around like our kitties do…..LOL

Well…with no camera or binoculars I’ve been more determined to see them again. Not sure if I’ll carry a camera, because it would need to be one the SLRs and on my morning walks, I’m really trying to move fast to get my heart rate up. But I can carry the small binoculars of the preserve (we’ll be getting our own soon). Now with my luck I won’t see them again since I was prepared, but I was lucky today! I saw a critter sitting in the clearing, not too far where I saw them last time. It was kind of hard, even with the binoculars, to see it because the grass is so high. I could see that the nose was short, so not a coyote and the ears weren’t that big, so not a deer. It was a cat!

Now the question was what kind of cat. I texted ToRn and he stated it he was on his way. I was on one side of the clearing and ToRn ended up on the other. With the camera, ToRn was able to get a few pictures and clean them up enough to get some good looks at him….and it was a bobcat….grin

ToRn headed back to the trail to try and outflank him so he could get a better shot and as he is heading down a trail he looks up and about literally runs into a mountain lion! The lion just looked at him like “I’m not afraid of you” They just looked at each other, ToRn texted me a pic and then took more pictures until the lion decides to walk off.

I’m so jealous! The ironies of this is that I just laminated and posted an article in the visitor center’s office about the last sighting from Dec, the preserves motion camera got a blurred rear-end and tail of one a couple of weeks ago and yesterday a couple saw the lion just walking along the trail yesterday.

The really funny part is later this morning ToRn was doing dishes and Drew decided to jump on his back. He was not wearing his normal hoodie and ended up with a lot of cat scratches. Who knew that he was safer outside with the wild cats? LOL

We really had an exciting beginning of the day today and we are very please by that.

A few days ago, ToRn looked out the bedroom window and says “We have cows out there” with surprise. We had a small herd of 7 cattle including a big bull just out there eating the grass. They left their ranch through the creek. The area manager has a couple of cattle dogs and he came over to herd them out. ToRn and I have never seen dogs work herding in person. That was really cool.

Ever since then we’ve been finding fresh cow pies…rolling eyes. The manager thinks we have a bull that has claimed this as his territory and is pushing his way through the now enforce “T” fence on the creek to make his rounds. We have over 300 wooded acres in this part of the area and so far we haven’t found him yet to drive him out. But I keep finding fresh tracks and scat in the morning.

Now I just learned today that in AZ you are responsible for fencing them OUT…the owners are not responsible for fencing them IN! That makes no sense and lets just say I totally DISAGREE with that…ggeezz.

I have a few more critters to talk about, but this post is long enough…..grin

Trying to Organizing My Life

Current Mood:Accomplished emoticon Accomplished & Beautiful Day emoticon Beautiful Day & Chilling emoticon Chilling

A lot of my updates have been through tweets most of the time.  Mainly since nothing really major normally goes on, unless it is our cats.  But I’ll try and sum up what I have been doing.

I still keep looking for Alexis, but getting better, it helps that we have her ashes back.  Weird not to have her yelling at me in the bathroom to pet her. =(  I still need to organize all of the pictures we took during the last few days that she was with us.  Drew and Sakura are great distractions, they are so young, feisty and so full of personality….not a day goes by that I’m not grateful that hubby brought them home.

Last month my extra mom lost her husband of 50+yrs  =(  And there was family drama.  I tried to call to give support to her and my sister.  With all the drama, I was hoping it would help to give them someone to vent to.  I really wish I would’ve been able to fly out and be there from them.  Even if I would just be the bad guy for them and tell the other family members off.  The rest of the family is no skin off of my back, there are only 2 that matter to me.  =)

This summer we now have 2 hummingbird feeders and 2 blooming fuchsias…finally started to get more the one hummingbird.  We have at least 3 of them hanging around.  They will hover above our heads while outside…love it!  It is really cool, didn’t know that they could be so vocal.  Last year we had at least 1 scrub blue jay, this year at least 4 and holy cow are they noisy as heck.  They are pretty, but so annoying ear wise…..ggeezzz

We brought 2 tomato plants this spring, then it rain way above normal and we thought it killed them. At the time, we thought we did something wrong or brought bad plants until they ran a story on the news and a lot of people were having the same problem.   So we brought 2 more, planted those into our planters and put the others in the ground, really not expecting them to live much less produce any tomatoes.  Well, they actually have tomatoes on them and other 2 are going nuts. We’ve already had 1 tomato off of the early girl bush and and about 5 off of the oregon spring. They have been so sweet and tasty.  They are great on french bread with tillamook extra sharp white cheddar cheese…wow.

Work wise, I’m getting more responsibility added, which is good thing.  Still working out the details to see what I can do to help out.  Looking forward to that.  I do a bit of everything at work, I really can’t even describe what I do….I guess I’m the catch all and what I don’t know or do, I know who does…..lol

Only issue that has been driving me nuts work wise is a wire that I sent out on the July 30th still has not been received!  What the heck?!?  I’ve been ordering a wire to this account info for 2yrs now and never had an issue before.

Now I do everything online or by phone, the only time I go to our local branch is make a deposit through the drive thru.  Well, due to this issue everything needs to be done at the branch…it is to the point that they now know me by my first name….ggeezz  I wouldn’t mind going in so much if it wasn’t for the same issue.  Gave up on getting the wire delivered and did a recall, fingers crossed, I will have it back in a few days and I can take care of the contractor by another and faster method.

I have finally taken the time to go through all of my stuff.  For those who don’t know me, I’m a pack rat in for sentimental stuff…..  I still have a stuffed pillow that I was given when I was about 2 in Germany, if that tells you anything, my Baltimore Orioles shirt from when I was about 9….lol.  Well, I have  bunch of pictures, every note/letter/card my parents ever gave me and nearly every card/letter/note since junior HS.  And it was all over the place, location wise….including under the bed.  I have every little note my hubby has ever given me….lol…I know nuts. =)

Now when I tweet about going under the bed, it is really a project.  This is what we have in king size : http://www.storagebedstore.com/IVG2/N/ProductID-8593.htm

So you have to move the mattress and then the plywood that the mattress sits on.  There is a big space between the drawers under there that is excellent for storage, but a pain to get to it on a regular basis and with it being king size, one person can’t do it.  So I have to pester my hubby for help….grin  But I totally love our bed set, just don’t want to have to move it….icks…

A few weeks ago I started going through everything.  I went through all the pictures I’ve ever taken (mainly from Alaska) and all the pictures that were my grandmothers’, brought some photo albums (weren’t even sure they still made those…lol)  Luckily one of my grandma’s photo album wasn’t full so I was able to put a bunch of pictures in there.

I also finally got all of hubby & my ticket stubs to rock concerts, football games and other memorabilia organized and out of our photo album.  I went through and organized every letter by who sent it and postmark date, even organized the notes that I passed in school….lol Got all my cards organized, HS grad, college grad, wedding, holidays…..ect

I went through every newspaper and magazine that I kept to see if I still wanted, even found the Daily News Miner from Fairbanks, AK that I kept from the day the space shuttle Challenger exploded when I was in 7th grade.

I cleaned out my cedar hope chest and got as many of the photo albums stored in there.  Made sure that older the pictures got in there, ones that are from my grandparents and are about 50-100yrs old.

So now instead of everything all over, everything has it’s one or two container and is in one area.  I put so much stuff into the recycling and trash…..I’m hoping that if we do move from this house in 2012, that it’ll make our lives a bit easier for packing and such.

Been trying to attack my closet, especially since I lost weight there is a lot that doesn’t fit.  Some of that I’ve been shipping off to family members who may be able to use it.  The stuff is perfectly good and I normally donate it, but I like to try and help out my loved ones before anyone else.  You have to take care of family when you can, even when it is not much.  =)

We are having issues with my truck……ggrrr…  I went to do errands last Thursday and it wouldn’t start after I got out of the post office.  I had to call hubby for a jump.  We weren’t sure if it was the battery or the alternator.   I kind of was hoping for the battery, much easier to switch out and a little bit cheaper.  But as I laid in bed at night this weekend, I remembered that we just got a new one before we left FL in ’07 and it was a diehard.  (I’m a big believer in diehard batteries, once I have one I rarely worry about it.)  And the fact that we rarely drive the truck, may be 3k miles a year now….. I just felt in my gut it wasn’t the battery…plus our lives are never that easy.

We took the battery in for testing today and confirmed it wasn’t the battery….good that our diehard purchase was a good one and bad for it being more complicated.  Hubby took the alternator out of it today and we’ll take it in to get it tested tomorrow.  I’m hoping that is the issue, because for a ’97 I really don’t want to spend a ton of money….at least the truck is paid for.  But I’m really thinking that it is the alternator, we’ve had the truck since 2000 and haven’t had an alternator issue and it is over 100k mile, so it sounds about right.

Doesn’t seem like we got much of a summer…feel cheated, it was rainy and chilly through June and even at the beginning of July.  And that was after having an unusual warm winter and spring like weather that we went hiking in mid March to Smith Rock….weird.  We had a few hot days and stayed downstairs during those (no central air).  Only used the portable ac in the bedroom for one night and that was only due to someone throwing a beeping fire detector out…..that continued to beep…icks  We are suppose to get 2 more days of 90s this week and we our high Sunday was 68….lol  We did have a beautiful day today, after being chilly yesterday.

We are planning on heading to Crater Lake sometime next month.  Only the real good time to do so for us, school will be back in, less crowds and before it starts to snow (Oct).  Hubby found a bunch a little hikes, 2-5miles, but they will be steep.  Because it is about 6hrs away, we’ll be spending 2 nights camping.  And it is going to have some cold nights….extra blankets are in order.  Just going to take our MREs and some snickers, oatmeal and such…maybe some hotdogs, but no where the amount of food we took last time for camping.  Need to do a reminder practice on setting up our tent before we go….been a while and practice makes it much easier and faster when you need it and if it is raining.  =)

Been seeing some preseason football games on, nothing but a tease.  So looking forward to the kick off to the college season.  Even if a boring game is on, I’m so use to having it playing in the background that it always feels weird when the season is over.  That is from years of conditioning from my dad and my hubby….grin  I tell hubby that he needs to thank dad for his wife’s enjoyment of sports.  I know he couldn’t handle it if he had a wife that didn’t enjoy sports with him…..grin

Well, when I started this I was in the bedroom, moved myself out on the porch off of the bedroom to get some fresh air.  It is now about 2130 hours, dark with a few bugs….lol  This ended up longer then I expected.  But I think I’m going to go in, have me some wine with some extra sharp white tillamook cheese, crackers and some of our home grown tomatoes…..tasty.  =)

Losing Alexis Post

Current Mood:Contemplative emoticon Contemplative & Very Sad emoticon Very Sad

I know I tweeted about Alexis, but when I look back at my entries, I’ve written for each of our babies on the day we lost them.  So I feel as if I cheated her if I don’t write something. This one is a week late, but I was really trying to get through it last week.

On the 4th hubby gave Alexis her meds and felt a a very hard lump under her chin.  We made an appt and took her into the vet on the 7th, a Sat.  It was one of either 2 things….an infected tooth (with her history a good possiblity) or a tumor.  The vet said he never felt an infected tooth that hard, but it still could be.  Said we can do an antibiotic and if it is an infected tooth the swelling would go down and then we can have it removed. If a tumor, there was no way we would put her through that.  It would not improve her quality or quantity of life.

We tried that, but it quickly became clear that it wasn’t working.  =(  She started to issues with drooling and the whites that cover her eyes when sleeping weren’t moving back in place when she opened them from sleeping.  Hubby tried to put a bowl of small pieces of food to the side for her to eat, but she would refuse to eat.  She stubbornly would eat the big pieces and, of course, we knew she won’t eat soft food….tried that many times.  The swelling never went down.  =(

Hubby called the vet Tues and gave him an update….and made the appt for Sat the 14th….I totally lost it when he told me.

We got Alexis in Dec of ’94 when hubby gave her to me when I came home from failing my German final.  She was officially a holiday present for me, but actually she was a present for his cat Randi….lol  Randi was lonely, she was in town, so not allowed out for hunting, no dogs to pick on, and my cat Aurora would have nothing to do with her….lol  She was the 1st cat that we got while together.  She was last connection to Randi, Aurora and Reggie.

She has gone through hell with medical issues the last few years.  She always had an issue with puking up her food over the years, but since the other cats tossed something (usually furballs) we just thought it was her.  She was a chunky cat, about 11pounds….so not small at all.  When I went to IN to visit family in Dec ’08, hubby had to take her in when she meowed in a very scary way at him.  She had an urinary tract infection that could’ve killed her, in tests for that they discovered that she had a hyperthyroid.

Which answered the question of her weight lost over the last year and why for the 1st time in her life she would meow at for things in the kitchen.  This is a cat that didn’t like milk, would maybe lick tuna juice, won’t eat any human food and refuse soft food….would only really eat meow mix.

What the vet told us, the hyperthyroid is like an engine running at full throttle and the gas not keeping up.  So even if she didn’t like, she would actually try the meat we offered her.  If we didn’t get her on meds or get her treated, she would be dead very quickly at that point.

Here is the link to that post : Kitty Update & Life : http://www.katvixen.com/Blog/?p=1547

Then we discovered that half of her teeth were rotten and needed replacing in June ’09 : http://www.katvixen.com/Blog/?p=1842

Ever since she had to deal with us giving her meds to keep her regular.  During all of this, she has stubbornly carried on.  Barely complaining, which made it is easier for us to miss things.  =(  But I really miss her quiet determination and her demand for my attention.

The Sunday after we took her to the vet to ask about the lump, she was stubbornly trying to open the sliding closet door (which she had, unfortunately, taught the wonder twins how to open….lol) with what remained of her teeth. Hubby thinks she was the most stubborn of all of our cats.  =)

I picked up her ashes and feel much better that she is backed home.  She is up on the bookshelf with our other 3 and their pictures.

Love and miss you Alexis.  I hope that you knew how much we loved you.

I hope everyone has had a good summer beginning.  Ours has been below average on temps and way over on rain…icks….still waiting for summer weather…dry and comfortable.  We were in the 60s this pass Wed/Thurs and we are suppose to be hitting the 90s this upcoming Wed/Thurs.  Lets just say I’ll believe it when I see it.  I really don’t want it to hit the 90s…I want mid 80s, that is perfect.  Then our house doesn’t have that chill and we can wear shorts and tank tops.  =)

I did finally vacuum out my poor truck in about a year today.  Those spiders get into everything and left cobwebs everywhere….lol

We haven’t been up to much other then work and the normal.  We do need to get a hike in, that I would like.  Not sure where, at this time of the year the mountains and Crater Lake still have a bit of snow.  If it melting you have higher rivers/creeks to deal with when crossing.  So we have to balance that.

We will be heading up to Canada sometime this month for a bbq with our sister-in-law and our nephews.  It will be to in remembrance of D, since it has been a year that we lost him.  But it will be great to see how our nephews have grown, they are so young that they grow so fast.  I miss seeing them.

We are still doing the gym.  I know it sounds annoyingly repetitive, but considering it is so easy to fall into bad habits the fact that we are still doing a good one….I’m grateful and proud of.  It has been over 2yrs and I’ll take it.  I will say that I didn’t end the week on a good note.  I did good Mon-Wed, but Thurs and Fri I was not mentally in it at all.  I did get my cardio and weights in, but didn’t get my 20mins on abs.  It didn’t help that I didn’t do very well on my eating habits this past week.  Went over my normal daily 2k a day, so I need to do better this week. My sweet tooth and munch urges just kicked in big time….drove me nuts.

I spent the week doing my normal….working, what else?  LOL  Which is partly why I died at the gym Thurs and Fri, my brain was on that and won’t stop.

Last weekend I couldn’t get a hold of my extra sister.  Her dad isn’t doing very well at all and is in hopice and I knew that she would be visiting and dealing with the drama that is her siblings.  I knew that they would be totally, totally stressing her out and a few of siblings are good for tearing her down……and totally negate the ones that are supportive of her..ggrrr  So I was totally stressing about getting a hold of her and checking in.  Anything to make her feel better and let her vent.

Well, that didn’t happen, so I sent her encouraging texts and my little sister actually got lucky and got a hold of her.  Since I wasn’t doing to good on making contact to her, I googled her parents and got their number and made a call.  She wasn’t there, but I was able to find out what was going on and let her mom vent some.  Between me trying to get a hold of her, texting and my sister actually making contact, it was a help to her and made her feel better.

I was not happy to hear what her siblings was putting her mom though and I knew if mom was going through hell, then my sister wasn’t doing too well.  =(  I let mom know that I was in her corner and whenever she needed to talk, she can vent at me.

My sister’s siblings were totally surprised to hear that I even called her mom just to make contact, that I wasn’t too happy about what mom was going through and then turn around and my little sister called her.  Sad, that we give her more emotional support then her some of own drama selfish siblings.  If her husband wasn’t there for support, she would’ve totally lost it…no idea how he puts up with her family sometimes.  Tries and keeps peace just for her and her parents sake.

She is finally back home (a state away…which is a good thing when dealing with them) and eating, trying to get a sense of her self back, I spent 3 hours on the phone with her last night.  She couldn’t hold anything down while dealing with them.  I’m going to try and give her mom a call tomorrow to check in.  I just suck at it due to the 3hr difference.  I wish I could be there to help mom and her, those are the 2 that I really care and worry about.

My god daughter has made me feel old.  She graduated from HS, turned 19 and is now expecting her baby in Dec….wow.  I remember when her mom was pregnant with her at my HS graduation.  I was so totally afraid that she was going to have her right there…..lol  Ended up having her a few weeks later.  I was looking at some pictures that were just taken barely 10yrs ago….damn, she has grown.

I found some paper where I can make my own postcards.  If you didn’t know, when we travel I love getting postcards and sending it to my family.  =)  So now, unless we are doing a bunch of traveling and I want to get them postmarked from that location, I can just use the pictures that we take for them.  I totally love that.  Especially when we are doing hiking around here in OR.  I spent time figuring out how to the line up everything and even printing out the addresses and messages on the back.  With my horrible handwriting I’m doing the post office a favor…..lol  I already sent out postcards from our visit to the coast in May…..grin

Our kitties are doing good. Drew and Sakura are now 2yrs old.  Drew is such a long cat and is still in the over energetic teen stage that drives his sister Sakura nuts.  Sakura has become a chunk bugger that is addicted to brushing…..grin  She is such a spoiled daddy’s girl and Drew is very much a momma boy when it comes to bedtime.  Alexis is going to be 16 this coming Oct and tries her best to ignore Drew and Sakura….lol

I’m currently half way through President Bill Clinton autobiography, My Life.  It is huge with a lot of policy thoughts and stories on where they came from.  You can tell that he likes to show where an idea came from.  It is interesting.  I have Audition by Barbara Walters and My Thirty Years Backstairs at the White House by Lillian Rogers Parks that I would love to get into next.

It is amazing how long it takes to right just a few things…..lol….but that is what is going on so far around here.  =)

Flying Cat, Police & SCOTUS

Current Mood:Beautiful Day emoticon Beautiful Day

Well, this time I remembered to put subjects down when I thought of them to remind myself of what I wanted to write about.  =)

Today we actually got a few things done, hubby got the place vacuumed of all the cat fur…not a fun job. We did some outside work.  Hubby got it done much faster then I thought it would take. I got #8 of strawberries cleaned and frozen, shortcake made, laundry done & a blog post.  Tomorrow, debating on making up some egg salad and need to finalize our taxes….fun, fun….  I really need to get back focused on our project….need to get that done.  What I need to do, is put on my ipod to my classical music and just tunnel vision myself.

I finished the Secret Lives of the Supreme Court last week. That was a very interest for a SCOTUS geek like me….grin I’m now reading True Compass by Edward M. Kennedy.  I’m really enjoying how he wrote it.  It is filled with humor, personal insight…..telling a story without it being dry.  So far you get to know people like he knew them….  I have been trying to give myself reading time…it really helps for chilling out and keeping my sanity.  =)

I so can’t wait for more hiking weather…just to get out of the house more.  The gym is getting ho-hum…I think I’m getting restless with it.  I don’t want stop it, just want to get more drive again and less boredom.  Changing between the treadmill & elliptical is helping.  But by the time I get my abs in, I don’t feel like getting my weights in….not good.  But as long as I’m maintaining for now, it is a good thing.  Once we get out more, it won’t be so bad.

We discovered that our other cat, Sakura, can fly….grin  But unlike her brother, she didn’t care that we saw her.  We have a black leather chair that spins with a foot stool about 5-6ft away from the end table.  As we were watching a Ron White stand up, I saw out of the corner of my eye a chunky furry body flying through the air from the end table to the chair….she landed on the top of the chair and it went spinning around in circles.  LMAO  She just looked at us like “What? I do this all the time”  Holy cow…..we just lost it…  I don’t get these 2 cats….we’ve never had cats act like they don’t give a rats ass about us correcting them and don’t care if they do things in front us that they are not allowed to do.  They are something else…we have never had cats fly before….LOL

There is one thing that I find very different to me here in Portland.  I guess there is a history of police brutality from the PDX police.  And from the news reports it sounds like they have taken a lot of steps to correct the actions of the past.  But there have been a few deaths from police shootings in the last year or so.  One of the shooting, sounds like the cop totally screwed up, but unfortunately we had one a few weeks ago and there has been protests….but this one doesn’t sound like a screw up.

This last shooting, the guy was covered in blood, had a knife and was acting crazy.  A knife is a deadly weapon, I would prefer and would hope that they could find another way to disarmed them….but a knife is not something that you play with when it comes to the public and your safety.  So with the info that has been released, at this time I feel it was more like a justified shooting….but I like to hear the all the info.

Now yes, I know that there are cops that abuse their authority….ever dealt with a small town cop on a power trip?  Not fun.

But now a days, in most places (there are some cites that are nothing but corruption…..not going to name the ones I won’t trust) most cops are just doing their job, trying to keep the public safe.

Maybe I just have been lucky with my dealing with cops, especially the county and state cops in IN, even when I’ve gotten pulled a lot when I was younger and dumber (very well deserved pull overs, 90% of the time). I’ve only had one bad experience, it was in FL and that was due his attitude and talking to others…this cop was known for being an ass….so I don’t actually count him.  Every other cop I’ve dealt with has always been professional.  I treated them with respect and it has always been returned.

My first two jobs were in food service and when cops and emergency responders came in they got 50% off. There are two main reasons for that.  One you know their jobs don’t pay…..so two, if you take care of them and they keep coming back they keep even a better eye on your place.  One of places I worked, it was the only location in all of Lake Country that hadn’t been robbed, because we had cops there all the time. And when they saw cars that they didn’t recognized in our parking lot after hours, they called us to check on us to make sure that everything was ok.  So it is a win-win situation.

So, even though I know that PDX police’s history has been spotty, I’m very uncomfortable with how quickly that they “burned at the stake” no matter what the info is….like the knife and the threats.  It so ties the hands of the good cops that are putting their lives on the line to do a thankless job.

Well, if you follow my tweets with all the links, you know that I’ve totally tied up in the retirement of Justice Stevens.  When you are addicted to politics, history and social issues you know that the Supreme Court is a huge part of our advancement in society, ie Civil Rights…women being allowed to control their own bodies.  What is really sad about Justice Stevens retirement is that he is seen as the force on the liberal side when he is actually old republican moderate.  It is the court that has changed.

The right-wing-nuts rally against “activist judges” (which is code for liberal judges) but their hypocrisy shows because the actual activist judges on the bench are the conservatives.  They are always rolling back our rights…..I feel as if they are going to throw us back to segregation and back alley abortions.  Screw our rights as long as corporations are allowed to do what they want and the white men keeps their power…..ggrrrr No ONE tells me what I can or can’t do with my body, my husband respects that.

Time to do a little bit of reading.  =)

My Happenings for the Month

Current Mood:Accomplished emoticon Accomplished

Been a while since an update. Same old same old….I have thoughts about what I want to blog about and then when I go and do it, my brain goes blank….so sad.

What I need to do, is do a draft post with just thoughts/subjects. So when I go and write one up, I have a reminder for myself.

I’ve been maintaining at the gym. Nothing earth shattering. After using the treadmill for about 18months straight, I’m getting a little annoyed on it. So I’ve been using the elliptical machine the last 2 days. I like that it is easier on my knees, feet & hands (I death grip the treadmill, no matter what speed). I also like that it working totally different muscles and so far, when I get off of it my legs feel jelly like. What I don’t like, is that it doesn’t force you keep the speed so I’m getting a good sweat but not the soaking, down pouring sweat that means I’ve burned more calories. According to the machine, I’m burning about 200 calories less and about 2 miles less then I’m use to. But I know that the speed I put on the treadmill is nothing that I would ever be capable of doing naturally without it forcing me and my death grip. So I just need to get my routine on it and with there being 2 versions of that machine at the gym, learn how to make them work the best for me.

Our kitties are still cute and ornery……grin Drew almost acts like a dog when you call him and loves to play with hubby on the cat tree. You try to correct either Drew or Sakura about something and they look at you like to say “what?” Heck, when hubby has pointed his finger at Sakura to scold her she turns around and rubs her face against it…..LOL Totally makes us laugh…..grin

Alexis is still hard at hearing, meowing (yelling/screaming) at us, because she can’t hear herself. Wondering if she is going senile, since she’ll do it in the middle of the night for no apparent reason.  She never use to make this kind of noise until she ended up sick over a year ago. Not she just hasn’t stopped…..drives us batty. I keep wondering if those 4 days at the vet for the thyroid treatment gave her separation anxiety. She hadn’t been overnight since she was fixed as a kitten 14yrs before. She is use to us traveling and leaving for a few days, but that is when she is left home with everything she is use to.  I just wish she would stop being so loud….

We had some friends come down for a visit a few weeks ago.  We took them to see Crown Point Observatory and Multnomah Falls, everyone has to see that when they visit.  =)

We finally did some Portland things and went to Voodoo Donuts & Powell’s Books.  Wow….those donuts were awesome….grin  And a bookstore, 3 floors and a whole city block…..I loved it!  Ironically my favor subjects (politics, history, social issues)  were under my favorite color (purple).  Need to go back down there and go to the Chinese Garden and visit more of the shops.

We have had a really mild winter.  According to the news we are about 6ft below the average snow pack on Mt Hood.  That is not a good thing….that is our summer water when we go into our dry season.  Part of Oregon are under drought warnings.  It is from the El Nino….all the wet weather is going either north or south of us….California and it flooding….that is our normal winter rain. So on one hand, concerned about possible drought conditions for the summer, but it really has been nice for winter.  Everything started budding in Feb, about 5 weeks earlier then normal.

With the nicer weather, I’ve been wanting to get out on one of the nice days.  So hubby found a nice hike in central Oregon, about  2 & 1/2 hours SE of here.  It is what they call the high desert.  Boy, once you are going down 26 on the east side of Hood, huge difference in the vegetation. You get use to all the green wooded area on this side of Hood and the Gorge that it is hard to imagine it being anything else until you see it.

We also really got to see Mt Jefferson better then we see from this side.  Normally we just barely see the tip of it on a clear day from high points.

Those smaller peaks to the south (left) of Mt Jefferson are the Three Sisters.

Closer look at the Three Sisters.  Hope, Charity, & Faith.

That “small” peak is Mt Hood.  So not use to seeing it look so small.  =)

We went to Smith Rock State Park for our hike (this was our trail http://www.nwhiker.com/SmithRockHike.html ).  It was only 4miles….which was nice distance wise……but it had heck of a climb up and down.  That 1st miles was a witch.  No matter how much you do at the gym, it never prepares you for climbs like that.  It just totally wipes out your stamina.  We did the hike in about 3hrs.  According to wiki, they have shot several westerns there and it is “generally considered the birthplace of modern American sport climbing

I’ve already posted all our of pics from this hike in my facebook.

I actually got a good pic of hubby.

Our traditional self-portrait.  =)

It was really great to get out of the house and our routine for a change.  I never like long drives, but we did get to see the snow on Mt Hood.  =)  With not getting our average the snow line was much higher then normal and melting.  Wasn’t even required to have chains on. We really want to explore all the different parts of Oregon for hiking.  So we are leaning towards the coast for our next day hike, since we haven’t done that yet.  We would love to get to Crater Lake for camping and hiking this year.

Flying Cats

Current Mood:Amused emoticon Amused & Beautiful Day emoticon Beautiful Day

I totally meant to have this in my last entry.  But we have discovered that our cat, Drew, can fly.  It is an interesting thing to learn about one’s cats.

But I do need to give some background on our evil cats.  =)

Sakura has a major thing for tearing up paper.  She will just sit there for hours and just methodically bite and tear into paper. I have to worry about receipts on my desk and magazines in the living room. Those aren’t too bad, until they fall on the floor….then she will go for it.  A very destructive cat when it comes to paper.  You should see what she does with cardboard left in the garage….lol

Drew Brees enjoys tearing paper, but no were like his sister…..he has a thing for wire bread ties, tooth picks and tearing off my wicker from my laundry basket.  Oh yeah, and q-tips…so we had to get a trash can in the bathroom with a lid on it to stop that one….lol We have no idea how he gets the toothpicks…..we brought a new holder that you have to shake it to get them. We think he has a stash somewhere, because we will find him with them all over the house.

Well, both of them love to mess with plants…both tearing into the plant and digging into the dirt, which sucks.  Because we love our green house plants, especially my hubby who loves to take care of them.  Our other 4 cats were never this bad at all.  We were able to have our plants without an issue.  These two….well, we grew some grass for them and they just tore into big time.  Drew pulled it out of its container.

So hubby keeps trying to find places for our plants to stay safe.  We lost 2 of our plants that came with us from Florida and they chewed on our bamboo.  =(  Well, we thinking what is the safest place to put our plants…..how about hanging from the ceiling?

Wellllll…..that worked for maybe 2 weeks.  We heard something while in the office, sounded like it was from the bathroom…looked, no one there.  Sakura and Alexis were sleeping and since we didn’t see Drew, we thought something just fell.  I go downstairs a few hours later, look at the cat’s food area and find a portion of our hanging plant in the water dish.  I called hubby down…..wow, we were both so upset but also trying hard not to laugh….because somehow Drew was able to jump on the hanging plant without knowing anything down and stay on long enough to also dig into the dirty….we have no idea how he did it.  Hubby has this image in his head of Drew’s butt just hanging and swinging from our plant and we are both upset that we didn’t see it happen, because that would be funny site….lol  We have concluded that Drew has learned how to fly to get up there…..grin

We have never had such cats that are so ornery, destructive, playful, and just don’t care when we try to correct them. They look at us as to say “what?” and causally walk away like nothing…..it is both amusing and infuriating….lol  We have some crazy cats….yet they are so laid back.  Even when they are totally fluffed up, we can pick them up and calm them down.  If that was Reggie, he would have our skin cut up.  Drew & Sakura definitely keep things interesting, that is for sure.

Alexis is doing ok.  She has lost a big part of her hearing, so when she meows (which is she is doing more and more of) it is has if she is yelling at us.  I’m also wondering about her sight in the dark, because she meows a lot more at night…something she never use to do before she got sick over a year ago.  Yet, her eyes aren’t cloudy at all.  But I have read that cats can go senile, so I’m really thinking that she is losing it with her old age.  She is going to be 16 this fall, went through an almost deadly urinary tract infection in Dec ’08, then the hyperthroid that same month and then a few months later had 7 teeth removed.  Until that all happened, she meowed, but no way as bad until she ended going through all that pain. So I don’t know what she is yelling at for…lol

She has finally out on some weight last she lost from the hyperthroid, still much smaller then she was before it.

A Quickie

Current Mood:Chilling emoticon Chilling & Go Colts emoticon Go Colts

YES!!!  The Colts are on the way to the Super Bowl!  GO HORSE!!

Now time for Brees and the Saints to win against the Favre and the Vikings.

Weather wise, we have been at least 5degrees about average, even in the evening with a few occasional dry days.  It has been feeling more like the fall then the winter.

I did ok at the gym this week, not great. Wednesday, 8hrs after the gym, I felt a muscle burn under my arm toward the right side of my chest.  I have no idea what I did, since by this time I had been sitting on my ass in front of my desk since we got back from the gym.  I can’t bend down to pick anything up without some sort of support.  So I’ve been wearing 2 sport bras all day…yuck.  At least I’ve still been able to do the treadmill, just can’t do my jumping jacks.

I’m so hoping for a much better week at the gym this week

For over a week now, we’ve been trying to eat more greens so been trying different lettuces and eating more salads.  It helps that I found one of my favorite dressings up here finally. Makoto Dressing…..love it!  Been eating more oranges for snacks.  We are trying to eat healthier, just hard to find things we like or sound like we want to try.  We aren’t the most creative, grew up on the basic midwestern diets of meat/potatoes/fried food…..tastes great, just not the best to have all the time.

Also doesn’t help that we are pretty much bored with food.  But I will say that we treated ourselves to Entenman chocolate donuts last week…mmm….we haven’t had those since Sept when my friend visited for the Oregon/Purdue game.  Those buggers are 290 each, but so worth it…mmm…..it’ll probably be a few months before we have them again.

Our kitties, Drew and Sakura, freak out so easily even with each other.  The other one may not have done anything and the other will fluff up big time, especially Sakura.  Their tails look like feather dusters…..lol  And then when they are really freaked they get big mohawks down their backs.  I don’t remember ever seeing that in my life….it is nutty….grin

Well, I just wanted to say hi and share a few thoughts that have been rattling around in my head.  Going to focus my attention on the game & try not to make my throat any worst.  =)  WHO DAT!!!

Hey Strangers!

Current Mood:Chilling emoticon Chilling & Contemplative emoticon Contemplative

Just taking it easy, if you call yelling at the TV easy……grin

WHO DAT!!!  Saints are looking much better then it started when Cardinals did the 1st TD.  Good going Saints!  I would so love to be in New Orleans for a home game.  I really love how the team and the city have come together.

Very cool!  Colts have won.  GO HORSE!!!

Sucks that Purdue lost their 3rd game in a row.  =(  What the hell?!?  ggrrrr

I really should be doing our books and more of my online work.  But sometimes you need days like this. Spent some time working on my own little projects.  Really need to make a list of things that I should focus on.  But even got more distracted then I planned, totally redid one of my blogs and it wasn’t planned at all….lol  I haven’t gotten a thing done that I planned today (even this) and it is already 8pm….ggeeezz….I started this around 2pm…icks

Alright, what has been going on with me so far….good thing for twitter, really helps to share what is going on, because by the time I do an entry I have no idea….lol

Well as of 2/21 we will be doing the gym on a regular basis for 2yrs.  For us, that is huge. I’m still getting people telling me how good I’ve done with my weight lose and workout.  This week wasn’t the best of working out. I got the treadmill in and my abs, but no motivation for my weights…not good.  So hope for a better week this time.

Last Saturday we drove up to Seattle, one of our very good friend was celebrating his birthday by having a get together at a funk show at the Tractor Tavern.  We saw Olympic Sound Collective & Eldridge Gravy and The Court Supreme, the other band was Black Cherry Crush, but they didn’t have a link on the Tractor’s site.  Holy cow, it has been years since we’ve seen a live act and that loud.  Our ears were ringing all day Sunday….lol  We had a blast…..we love visiting with our friends up there.  We actually got up early enough Sunday to get on the road & made the expressway in Seattle before it closed to the southbound lane.  That expressway is a big help on dealing with Seattle traffic…..I hate that part of I5….lol

We got home by 4pm, was crashed out by 11pm and you would think we would be fine at 8am for the gym…..well, it didn’t happen.  When the alarm went off, I was so loopy and confused.  When you wake up like that, means you need more sleep.  So we crashed some more.  For once, I didn’t feel guilty about missing the gym since it was needed.  Just not happy that I’m 4miles under what I do in walking for the week.  But I’ll be back to my norm next week.  =)

We finally got a break in the winds, we’ll see how long it lasts.  Getting a steady wind of 20-30mph with gusts up to 40/50mph on a regular basis can drive you batty.  But we’ve has temps in the high 40s/low 50s this week.  It has been very nice.  =)

Hubby’s Jeep got egged by in November (that assholes) and we finally got it in and taken care of this week.  Good thing we got full coverage and it was covered by comprehensive….nice bonus is that we don’t have a deductible.  =)  But now I need to take my Dakota in next week, it sometimes dies out when in idle, especially when in reverse…..probably the fuel injection.

The kitties are feisty as ever….grin  They really do make us laugh and give us joy.  Alexis is partial deaf and we think is going senior since she’ll cry out so loudly for no reason.  When she wants my attention, she wants my attention.  Drew can’t handle it when I go to bed and he isn’t there by my side.  Sakura is as evil as ever…..loves to bite…grin  Hubby so spoils her and doesn’t like to yell at her at all…..grin  He brought a new toy mouse for them that squeaks when they impact it.  Sakura is loving it big time, growling over it, carrying it around, throwing it in the air as she bats at it.  Drew doesn’t seem to carry for it, but he doesn’t seem to play with the bigger toys much.  He loves the really small toy mice.

Pretty much, I’ve just been doing my work and every day stuff.  Nothing very exciting I’m afraid. =(  But it keeps me busy.  =)

Now for a service announcement, as you know Haiti is suffering…..every time I see a story on the news or online, I end up crying….I’m too soft when it comes to things like this.

Even if we aren’t there to help, we can send money to organizations that can do best work.  Just make sure that you are giving to legit organizations and not scams.  It is best to find ones that are reported on by news organizations or go to the State Department or White House site to find the best way to give.  Just give what you can, as you have heard it has added up very fast.

What Is Happening This Month

Current Mood:Chilling emoticon Chilling & Holiday Feeling emoticon Holiday Feeling

Boy, it has been a long while since for a true blog entry.

Well, gym wise I got up to 4 incline at 8.0 speed for 25.5 and still got up to 3.76miles in 30min.  Hubby had me use a 25# weight when doing sit ups instead of my 12# medicine ball, while holding it away from my chest.  My arms and abs are feeling it.  I’m still going between 150-154 weight wise, so I think I’m at my weight.

We’ve picked up and seen Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince and The Hangover.  I need to see how the last 2 installments of the HP series….to really see how it plays out.  The Hangover was funny, but weird.  Saw Love Guru last night….wow, that was bad….lol Watching Super Troopers now…this is really bad.  Netflixs comes in handy…don’t make the mistake of buying 90% of them.  =)

What have I been doing other then working and the gym…well, not much.

I spent a few days printing up my 5 page holiday letter.  It was about 7 pages, but I played around with fonts, margins and sizing down pictures. I also reworked where I put the pictures so I could print front and back and got it down to 3 pages.  Otherwise I won’t be able to fit it into the cards….lol  I didn’t think I had that many cards to send out, maybe 60 but ended up back up to my 80.

I wasn’t planning on a tree this year, since the wonder twins climb and bent the heck out of my artifical one. I was going to get one from Living Trees….but they don’t deliver out here.  I wasn’t sure about a cut tree because I didn’t know about whether the cats would be able to knock it down.  I also did some research and fresh cut trees are carbon neutral, especially here in the NW, tree farms are everywhere and this is their crop, that mattered a lot to me.

Since I was totally down and feeling out about not having a tree, I had to get one.  I was worried about the old metal ones that I remembered from my youth.  Today’s tree stands are much better then the ones I remembered.  And a farmer was selling them not even a mile from us and had the added bonus that they were donating $2 for every tree to the local HS.  Picking out a tree was hard, they all looked good.  But I finally picked out a beautiful 6ft douglas fir that they threw in the back of my tree.  Boy did it smell great in the house.  =)

The wonder twins love messing with it, but it seems too dense for them to climb it…big plus.  Drew has a thing for checking the water and digging the sheet away from the stand that I have there….lol  The goof….especially when they are playing with the toy mice.  But the bottom of my tree doesn’t look nearly as good and balanced as the top half, that lasted may be 1 day  I’m hoping that they are getting bored with the tree….they aren’t knocking the balls off as much and when we are downstairs I do spray them with the water bottle to discourage them.  I’m also wondering if it has anything with the fact that I’m unplugging the tree at night so they aren’t being drawn to the the shinny stuff.

I don’t think I’ll be using my artifical tree again.  If I don’t use it next year, I’ll probably drop it off at Good Will or Salvation Army.

I’m getting anxious for the 25th.  Can’t wait for hubby to open his gift…..driving me nuts…..lol

I ordered ice cream cake for my birthday for pick up Thurs.  Got a mini roll with mint chocolate ice cream, chocolate cake with fudge topping.  My mouth can’t wait to have some.  =)

We had some wacky cold for our area a few weeks ago……icks.  But we are now back to normal 40s-50s and rainy.  That is life in the valley.  Now if we were on Mt Hood, as you saw that 3 hikers were sadly lost, they were getting up to 30in a day in snow.  Don’t ever underestimate the power of the mountain and mother nature.
