I went for a walk today, even though we barely hit 40 and it was sprinkling/trying to snow. It was more rain, but you could see it trying to snow with a spit here and there, nothing to stick but it was cool to see. It was refreshing and it smelled good. I hope that it isn’t raining too hard tomorrow so I can do it again.

It did actually snow today. It was great to see even if it all melted. I guess it is suppose to snow this weekend, but that reminds me, I need to see what elevation we are at. When they talk about the weather and snow it determined by that. Since we are going to become “natives” here I need to get my lingo correct. =)

Wow, that is a weird concept……….being from any one area…..that is not normal for me. Torn grew up in Indiana, so he is from there. I grew up moving around, claimed Alaska because I felt the most home there even though I was in Indiana for almost 15yrs afterwards, they weren’t my formative ones. So give me a couple of years to become knowledgeable and settled and then I can actually claim that I’m from Oregon. =)

Then it was another day of a few errands. Along as it is not a bunch that take forever, I’m now seeing it as a way to get out of the house and get some fresh air.

Throw in some laundry washing and attacking some online prep work. It was pretty productive day.

Torn got his passport! Hot damn! Now can someone explain that after all that security on verifying who he is and they sent it priority mail?!?! Why was it not register mail and required his signature?!?! That is pretty oxymoron on their part. But at least he has it and it is locked in the firebox.

Now if I could get my birth certificate stuff from the State Department……….ggrrrr I’m going to get supplemental/substitute stuff that they are asking for from my mother (my parents birth & marriage certificates), just in case my birth certificate is not here when I get back so I can get it sent out.

Well, it is about time for me to attack my bi-monthly work project. =)

Even though I got up a little late, I got some things done on top of a few errands.

It was mainly online work that I got done.  So I have my list set for tomorrow to attack.  I have a few things that I’ll need to get done by Sunday.  Sunday will be my get things cleaned around the house and start on my packing.  So I won’t be online much.

It feels good to get somethings done, just hate that I was stuck in the office to get it done.  But that is ok, I won’t be in it for 10days soon enough.

Watched the GOP debate, a lot of tap dancing and it was fun to see them tangle with each other.  I don’t care of all of McCain’s views……..right to choice and the war but he is the only one of the bunch that I like.  When he is being himself and straight talking.
That sucks…..my mind just went blank!  Damn, I hate that.

Iraqi Contractors Frozen Out of U.S.

***I understand about needing to be careful and security, but damn it………..these people risked their lives to help us.  We OWE them.  This country has lost it’s connection for who we are suppose to be.  I so hope that the next administration will correct the course we are on.

My 1st project of the day was to get the Oregon tags for our truck. It went much easier then I thought it would. Unfortunately, Oregon is a 2 tag state. =( I had to remove our Purdue tag from front. We needed a new one anyway, it was a 2001 Rose Bowl one, but it was our Purdue. So that was the sucky part about it.

Torn talked to a friend the other day and found out in some areas you are required to have chains in your vehicle. Of course, I hadn’t had things like that since I was living outside of the Chicago area with all that lake effect snow. So I saw a Napa Parts store and stopped to get some info. They carry our size and you get them in sets of 2. And I asked if this area required them and they said yes, so when I get back from Indiana I’ll have to see about getting them and teaching myself how to get them on again……doh It has been a long while.

Called State Department to find out the status of my birth certificate and that was completely useless. I called about 2pm their time and no one answered. I let it ring for over 5 minutes! What a bunch of morons……….gggrrrrr

I took the truck for an oil change the other day. Ended up with a little more work then planned. But since I don’t remember the last time we had the radiator fluid flushed out since it was watery looking and with much colder weather coming, it was the best thing to do.

I got all of my cards mailed off today. I had to bag them up to carry them……….lol

I had to pick up some cat food and wandered around for a little bit looking at the xmas stuff. It is my favorite time of year, but I’m of 2 minds this year. I really want to get into the spirit of it and just enjoy myself. I have so many happy memories of it. But I really don’t have an outlet for having the holiday spirit. When I visit my family I’ll have it. I want to start listening to my xmas music, but won’t until the 1st………starting it too early ruins it and keeps it from being special. I don’t know what my mind is thinking…..it just keeps going round and round.

When I got home from my errands I got quite a bit of online work that I was putting off. So far I’m caught up. Some how I need to get the motivation to finish up a few receipts that I have left to put into quickbooks. Just want to get it done before I leave for my trip.

It has been cold and rainy, sometimes the sunny peeks out. I’m really waiting for it to snow some……..you can almost smell it in the air. I want to go walking around the neighborhood at night to see the xmas lights I saw folks putting up the Friday after Thanksgiving, but I want it see it in the snow. For the last 3 holidays, there wasn’t a chance of seeing that in Florida so I would love to see it here………even though you almost never saw it in Indiana. It was just very, very cold and windy for the holiday. =)

I actually had a productive Monday……..that was even after having a hard time getting out of bed.

I woke up when Torn did, but I just didn’t want to leave the warmth of the blankets.  It usually takes me about 20-30 min to roll out of bed just because of that.  I lay there enjoying how comforty the blankets are, since it is so chilly once I leave the bed, but then my back and neck start aching for being in bed for more then 7hrs, I get restless and then all I can think about is brushing my teeth.  So I finally move my ass out of bed.

I did some of my morning surfing, jumped into the shower and then attacked some of the errands I needed to get done. Once all that was done, I attacked my online work and messages.  Got a bit done, which I better have because I spent all afternoon and evening working on it.  =)

I’ve spent the last few hours folding our xmas letter and stuffing them into the cards.  Other then 2 cards, the are all stamped and ready to go.  So I’m pleased.  I’m probably going to offer cards to my members and if I have any left, I may offer to Rude members.  Still deciding, I have to go over my to do lists.

I’m ready for bed on one level, but want to work or read on another…….caught in between………I think I’ll finish up one of my magazines.

After now doing things for the 1st few days of the week, I actually got a few things done the last few days. I had to force myself, but I was active project wise.

Friday I did go for a walk, went to another part of the neighborhood, hoping to find another short cut out of it. Nope, dead end. But it was about 40 and sunny. Started out very chilled, especially when the wind gusted up, but easily worked up a sweat.

When I got back, I actually got some online work done. It was hard, I’m in the shut down, want to avoid everyone and everything mode. I hate it, but it is hard to fight it.

Saturday, I actually got to going through all the pictures of the rv trip and getting them into galleries. That took forever, since there was about 6000 of them. Then it took almost 24hrs to get them all uploaded to the server. So that finished up this morning. I still have other pictures that I’ve taken that I need to get done, but the big project is done. I’m going to try and finish the little ones up sometime this week because I should be coming back from IN with a bunch of pictures from my mom that I’ll need to work on.

I worked on a holiday letter, my 1st and probably only one. But I wanted to let family members what was going on, plus I brought some holiday paper last year on clearance that I wanted to use. I love the decorations. =) Took awhile to print it out since I added a picture of Torn & I at the Painted Desert. But it came out pretty good, just need to fold them all to put into my xmas cards.

Which leads me to my next project, got all the cards labeled and signed……..just need to put in the letter, stamp and send out. I do have few that I want to make special notes in.

Then Sunday’s have become my clean the house day. The trash gets picked up on Mondays so I attack the cat litters, vacuum the whole house and gather the trash. Next week I’m going to have to attack the bathrooms since I’m leaving on the 5th for 10days. It feels good to get some physical labor in. There is some simple satisfaction in been able to see a job done.

Tomorrow I need to pick up some holiday looking stamps. I saw some nice Northern Lights stamps, so it gives the feeling of the season with the religious overtone.

I did get the rest of The Lord of The Rings books done. 4 books in one week, not bad. =)

Well, need to get to bed. I have been staying up too late the last few nights.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving filled with food, family, love and football!

We didn’t do anything but football and Torn made a great dinner.

I did get more of the The Two Towers read and went through my xmas card labels.  Lets just say my card list has gotten smaller.  I emailed a few folks to get their addresses so once I get those I can get the labels printed out.  I hope to hear from them by Sunday, I really would like to have them done this weekend.  Keep your fingers crossed.  =)

Well, I actually have more time to write my blog entries, but for the life of me nothing is coming to mind. I’ve been in a mindless hazy funky the last few days. Avoiding the pc when I’m not surfing news sites. Just staying out of the office overall.

Today didn’t help that I sleep like crap last night. Took about 2+hrs to fall a sleep and then was woken up about 5hrs later and couldn’t fall back to sleep.

I’m wondering if sometimes it the fact that the office is dark during the day and unless it is rainy, it drives me nuts. So I’m debating, for things that I don’t need my desk/set up for, about going into the bedroom some days just for the sunlight.

I also have been reading more. We have a bunch of books that I’ve picked up over the years, but never had time to read, between my day job and handling our business. I’ve started to read Al Gore’s Assault On Reason and a book called Sweet Jesus I hate Bill O’Reilly (check out their site : http://sweetjesusihatebilloreilly.com/ )………those are books I’m picking up in the passing.

But this week alone, I did get The Hobbit & The Fellowship of the Ring read. I had always wanted to read them, but with way he wrote with all the little details and different names there was no way I could’ve read them before seeing the movies without having a lot of time to focus on them. There is still no way for me to really keep track of all of that…….reminds me of when I read up on Catherine the Great……….without having everyday knowledge of the Russian language all the names start looking the same and are hard to keep track of.

This is the one time I will say watching the movies helped to get into a book. It is neat to see how they did try to stay close to the books with even using some of the actual dialogs that was written in the books.

Today was my dad’s birthday. I made sure I called him to remind him how old he is, as a good daughter should……grin But he turned the tables on me and made me feel old and talking about an old Thanksgiving Day when I was a kid.

I got the pie baked for tomorrow. Torn will be doing nearly all the cooking. He makes a great turkey. =)

I’m missing my family more with this years set of holidays. I think it is because the last 3 yrs I had stuff to keep me busy and distracted outside of the house. So now I’m feeling it. But I’ll be seeing them soon. =)

I got my storage container of xmas card stuff out. Need to get off my ass and get to work on that. I would like to get everything out next week since I’m flying out to visit my family on the 5th, plus I have to get our tree up on the 3rd.

I also need to get all the pics from the trip up in some galleries. There are way too many of them to put on a flash drive to show the family, especially my 90+ great aunt. If I have them on the server, I can just get online with my laptop and show her. =)

I think I’m going to get some reading done.

We’ve lost power again for the 2nd time today.  We woke this morning to our power being out. Which made for an even chillier morning.  Luckily we have a gas fireplace.  It helps in the heating.

Found out from PGE that this time it is because of a car accident.  It was going to go out, it could’ve gone out closer to midnight………then we would just go to bed.  =)

I hadn’t done very much today.  I was starting to get some work done when we lost power.  Now I just can’t focus.  Thinking of doing some reading by our lamp that we brought for hurricanes.

I really starting to look forward to seeing my family in a few weeks.  I miss them and my nieces and nephew.  I just hope that I don’t get caught in a snow storm while flying.  I’ve never flown this close to the holidays………..avoid it like the plague.  But I really wanted to be there when the holiday decorations are up and kids are getting exicted.  So I thought doing it in between Thanksgiving and Xmas as a good balance.  I love this time of year, time for family and I’ve always enjoyed that.
