Current Mood: Chilling

We are here at the b & b.  It is beautiful place; the house was originally built in 1860 so it has a lot of character.  It is run by a very interesting English couple who have traveled the world.  Already had some fascinating conversation and we haven’t even had breakfast yet, where it usually takes place.

We didn’t get as much shot as we thought we would.  Room is a little smaller and we forgot that with older houses you have to be much quieter because everyone hears just about everything.  But we still got some good stuff.  Just means that we may have to shot tomorrow.

Monday didn’t start out so hot……my head was hurting since a new pressure system moved in and I was feeling sick as hell.  In fact, I seriously considered calling off for the 1st time since the spring of ’94.  I may go home sick once in a blue moon, but calling off is not my thing.  It is also not Torn’s thing.  Only time he missed work when he was in the Navy was the 2 different days that he was ordered to due to illness.  At the job in Indiana…..didn’t miss a day until he had been there for 5 & half years.  Both our folks are the same way…….unless very ill or an extreme emergency, you don’t call off.

Last night was a bubble buster in that I found out that my family is going to get hit hard with a snow storm, my sister is about to lose it since she is home all the time and is afraid losing her sobriety.

Then got a call from my brother-in-law, my other sister is in the hospital….she needs to go under gall bladder surgery.  He was stressing over the fact that he couldn’t be with his wife because they have kids and he can’t leave them and then he has to work.  He is going to try to get the rest of the week off, but still feels bad about not being there when she has to go thru tests.  My brother-in-law and I have an uneasy truce over things that happened in the past, but he knew that I would want to know what was going on.  I know that he knew that I would call her and it would cheer her up.

So it was a double whammy.

I called my folks, check in on them and talked to my sister about trying to find ways to keep her mind busy.  I then called my other sister in the hospital to check on her.  She seemed to be hanging in there and doing better then her husband felt that she was.  She is like, “there is nothing he can do, he has to be with the kids”

If we were still in Indiana with that snow storm (I just called my folks, they have 12 inches and expect 5 more) I would have our firewood stocked and I would hide out.  That use to be my dream vacation to get snow bound in a mountain cabin and hide from the world with my books and music….and you can’t forget the fireplace and quilts.  =)

I’m not sure what we are doing Wednesday.  I just know that we aren’t going to any restaurant………..grin…….too many damn people.
