My Day

28 January, 2005

Today was a day off. Didnt do much around the house, other then some laundry. What I actually did was go to a spa with a friend and used the gift card that Torn gave me for Xmas. It was great.

I got a massage, a mineral body wrap & a facial. I was able to use the steam room & sauna in between treatments and then use a very nice shower..everything supplied. It was very relaxinggrin I did need that.

We are now to only 2 hours of shows to watch..not bad considering we had about 12 hrs a few days ago..lol The one about the Presidents, we have from 1945 to present to go through. Considering some of the Presidents we had..we are lucky we have gotten this far.lol

Im heading to bed, have to be at work by 7am for a meetingicks..then have to go back in later that night to work. Fun, fun..lol

The Happenings

27 January, 2005

Im getting ready for work. Been working a lot of nights, which is nice in that I have an actual routine of some kind when it comes to sleep and attempt at getting things done. =}

Got a card from my Great Aunt yesterday, which was really cool. I get letters from my sisters & I love it, but from my Aunt I know that she cant write as well due to arthritis so the fact she wrote a little something means a lot. I dont really expect her to respond to all my letters cuz of it……..so I really enjoy it when she is able to.

Got home and Torn said his mom called. We havent heard from them in while. So that was really cool.

Tomorrow Im meeting up with a friend & we are going to a spa. Torn had gotten me some gift cards for it & Im really looking forward to it. I believe it is a facial & a body wrap. Never had a body wrap before so thatll be a firstlol I just know that it is going to be great to chill out and pamper myself for a little while.

When I get back from that tomorrow I need to attack the packing. We are headed up to Buffalo for SuperBowl weekend on a business trip of Torns. So it is not a photo thing. Im really looking forward to seeing snow this year & wearing my Purdue parka at least once this year.grin I know, I know..Im crazy. Now I just need to make sure I pack our gloves and hats so I can play in itlol The only thing would make it better is if it was with my nieces & nephew. That would be great.

Right now we have been trying to play catch up on all the programs we have recorded. Last weekend the History Channel had a special going through all the presidents & that was 8hours worth.lol So it has been interesting trying to watch it all plus our few regular programs.but worth it. =}

Time to get one more show in while getting ready for work. =}

A Funny One

27 January, 2005

**Found on a message board……lol……I love it.

Martin wakes up at home with a huge hangover. He forces himself to open his eyes, and the first thing he sees is a couple of aspirins and a glass of water on the side table. He sits up and sees his clothing in front of him, all clean and pressed.

Martin looks around the room and sees that it is in perfect order - spotless and clean. So is the rest of the house.

He takes the aspirins and notices a note on the table. “Honey, breakfast is on the stove, I left early to go shopping. Love you!”

So he goes to the kitchen and sure enough there is a hot breakfast and the morning newspaper. His son is also at the table, eating.

Martin asks, “Son, what happened last night?”

His son says, “Well, you came home around 3 AM, drunk and delirious. Broke some furniture, puked in the hallway, and gave yourself a black eye when you stumbled into the door.”

Confused, Martin asks, “So, why is everything in order and so clean, and breakfast is on the table waiting for me?”

His son replies, “Oh, that! Mom dragged you to the bedroom, and when she tried to take your pants off, you said, “Lady, leave me alone! I’m married!”"

Self-induced hangover — $100.00 Broken furniture — $2,000.00 Bottle of Aspirins — $2.00 Breakfast — $10.00 Saying The Right Thing Even While You Are Drunk - PRICELESS

PCs are Frustrating

24 January, 2005

Today was frustrating. 1st I got up much later then I wanted, but it was my day off and I hate setting my alarm for that. But I did get my desk cleaned up & a bunch of stuff put away, and then I did the treadmill, cleaned some strawberries, emails, dishes….the normal stuff.

Remember when I said I had installed service pack2 and everything worked that didnt work the 1st time I did it? Well, things werent working again & I KNOW they worked beforeI wasnt imagining things.

I was going to get on PrivateCamZ but cuz of that dang update, I couldnt broadcast.not with my good camera anyway. ={ So I was trying to figure out what did I do differently that it changed. Then Torn tried to figure it out. Poor Torn, he spent 2-3 hours on it.

Well, I uninstalled that dang thing, yet again. And everything workedthen I must be the biggest sucker for punishment..cuz I installed it again to see if it would work. If it wouldve, I was going to take screen caps of all my settings so if I changed them & screwed it up I would have something to compare it to. Unfortunately, that was all a waste of time.still didnt work.grrrrr So Ill wait a few months before trying again & hope that whatever they did have screwy in there gets fixed.

Right now Im waiting for it to totally uninstall again, then I have to check for updates that are outside of the pack..which means a lot of turning off & rebooting my pc all over again. My pc is slow as heck lately on starting up. Never use to be that way. I havent added any programs; even shut some off so they only start up if I turn them on not at start up.

My pc just was not cooperating today. ={ And I had started out so good on getting things together. Just ended up wasted when I couldve been working on something else.

Now I need to chill so I can sleep tonight, Im opening tomorrow & that means an early day.

At this rate my pc stuff will have to wait until I get home tomorrow evening.

Peace
Toni

Inaugration Day

20 January, 2005

As I type this, I should be either in the shower or on the treadmillbut instead Im writing to you and watching the Inauguration. I had no plans to watch it, since I cant stand the man going back into officebut it is hard not to watch the traditions of our country.

They had a commentator on earlier reflecting on how our ceremonies may be seen overseas. I thought it was interesting that even though world-wide we are a fairly new country that we have some of the oldest ceremonies, especially for a constitutionally based country. For example France maybe a very old country but its government set up is fairly new. When you think about it, of all the countries of Europe, only England has kept its form of government from the beginning, even with all the changes & adjustments over the years.

For those who didnt know, our system was set up based on the Roman form of government.a Republic. We are not actually a democracy since we vote and then it is through the Electoral College that our President is selected. In other words we vote our representatives to make our decisions for us, not for them to do what we direct..even though it goes hand-in-hand. Then many of our laws are based on the laws that had developed in England over the years before the Revolution.

George Washington was greatly influenced by how a gentleman should conduct himself, based off of Englands standards. Those are what guided him through his life and how he conducted himself. When he became President, he took it since he felt he was one to help keep the fragile new nation together. He was also extremely aware that with him being the 1st President that history will be set from what he did. He chose his actions carefully and with an eye on the future.

I did get 5mins on the treadmill. Tomorrow it will be either the treadmill or the bike. I was thinking of practicing on my roller blades, but Torn doesnt want me doing that unless he is out there for the 1st part of it.

Bush has now been sworn in..ggggrrrr.yuckI keep telling myself only 4 more years He may have won the electionbut he has some of the lowest approval rating for a 2 term.he is in the league of Nixon. That is sad & Im afraid of the damage that he has done and what damage he will cause (and YES he will cause damage).

Since he is speaking & I cant stand itIm going to get into the shower.

New Pic Site

Rocket Launch

16 January, 2005

Looks like LJ is finally up. That was crazy.

Well..nothing like a screwed up water pump to ruin your days off. =(

It started out okay enough; I had Tuesday & Wednesday off. I got all my letters done, caught up emails on Tuesday & me and Torn watched some movies. We also finished up in the garage. Got a few more Rubbermaid containers for our yearbooks & photo albums & got a box of things to take to goodwill. So that was cool.

On Wednesday we decided to head to one of the wildlife refuges and just get out of the house. It was a beautiful day even got to see a rocket launch! That was so coolwe almost missed it and I happen to look up and see it. So Torn was able to get a few pics of it: http://www.katvixen.com/rocket/

The refuge is not far from NASA and you can see the launch pads in the distance. So we took a few pics of those & got to see a gator that a few wildlife rangers had caught. They think she was about 5-6 yrs old & was not happy to be tied upbut then would you be. =) They were going to release her farther away from people. We did get to touch her..that is some tough, very tough skin.

We were going to stop and get lunch on our way out and ended up smelling coolant from the engine. Torn opened up the hood & it was everywhere. =( We were about 30miles from home. We picked up some more coolant & made our way home. Torn determined that is was the water pump.

I called around and found someone to take a look at it the next dayand yup they confirmed what Torn figured. Ended up getting a new one, but needed to get one more thing..but that has to wait until tomorrow.

What sucks is every time you enjoying yourself & thinking that life is going good (for once) something like this has to happen and ruin it. That really sucks.

So Ive been working that last few days. A good way to get your mind off of things. Getting ready to take care of emails & then get to work on a few other things.

We did have a hot show on CamZ this morning. Looking at my work schedule, it looks as if I can keep that time slot for another week. But Ill double check.

Peace
Toni
